Droughts, floods, hurricanes – once considered ‘natural disasters’, there is ample evidence that these are now being driven by humans. Primarily, human consumption – often plain greed.

It is heartening to watch how young people all over the world are stepping up to fight for their future. But it is devastating to realize that the older generations have bequeathed them a poisoned, dying world.

A wide range of Cape Town residents held a march on 20 September, calling on the government to declare climate change an emergency. School learners, Hare Krishnas, Buddhists and bishops, vegans, weed smokers and ordinary, concerned people all came together. Next time, join us!
