I am a media and communication professional with 14 years’ experience in executive management. I have been involved in running large public health advocacy projects, managing a multimedia production team, fundraising and journalist training. I currently work with international news agencies and consult for UN agencies and donors.
I was CEO of Africa’s first independent health news agency for 14 years and built it up from a staff of five to a permanent staff of 17 with a network of 20 part-time citizen journalists. I have written three books, and won numerous journalism awards.
I have worked on a number of major campaigns, including as a South African partner of the Bloomberg Philanthropies’ international obesity prevention campaign, where I oversaw a substantial paid media campaign in favour of a tax on sugary drinks.
